guest options while staying at our lodge
New Zealand - the home of bungy!
Mount Cook - NZ's highest mountain. A great day trip from Woodbury Safari Lodge.
New Zealand is one of the safest countries in the world to visit. No immunization or vaccination shots are required before travel. Tap water is totally safe to drink & best of all - no snakes!
Each day you may choose to relax at the lodge (in-house massage & spa treatments available in the lodge), go along on the hunt or take a guided day trip from the lodge.
Woodbury Safari Lodge is in a wonderful location to offer non-hunting guests lots of options for activities on a daily basis.
These include:
Visit Geraldine & the surrounding areas for shopping, cafes & sightseeing. Geraldine is a charming artisan town with boutique shopping, galleries, and local producers. Highlights include Barkers of Geraldine (famous sauces and preserves), the Geraldine Cheese Co (award-winning artisan cheeses), Humdinger Gin (small-batch distillery using local botanicals), and a Vintage Car & Machinery Museum.
Photo tours of magnificent mountain, lakes & glacial river scenery
Horse treks
Scenic flights over the Southern Alps & Main Divide with Air Safaris
Helicopter charter from the lodge heli-pad on the front lawn
The Tin Shed (supplier of unique Kiwi clothing and accessories)
Lake Tekapo Hot Springs & Spa (a very popular day trip for the ladies!)
Local farm tour - just around the corner from the lodge, to see sheepdogs working and a sheep being shorn of it's wool
Ōpuke Thermal Pools & Spa, it's a really compelling non-hunter add-on for Woodbury Safari Lodge guests.
Located in Methven (about an hour from the lodge, at the base of Mt Hutt), Ōpuke is New Zealand's first solar-powered thermal pools facility — water drawn from the Rangitata River and heated by 500 solar panels. It has three distinct zones:
Discovery - family-friendly, lazy river, aqua play area.
Tranquility - adults-only with a swim-up bar and restaurant serving local food and wine. Pool temps 36–37°C.
Serenity - the premium adults-only experience with semi-private hot tubs, sauna, food & beverage service, and uninterrupted Mt Hutt mountain views.
Peel Forest & the Foothills
A treasured remnant of ancient native forest with hiking tracks, waterfalls, and 1,000-year-old tōtara trees. The Rangitata River nearby offers white water rafting, kayaking, and canyoning.
Lake Tekapo
One of NZ's most iconic spots — the famous turquoise lake, Church of the Good Shepherd, Tekapo Springs (hot pools), and Mt John Observatory. It sits inside the world's largest dark sky reserve, so stargazing here is extraordinary. A natural fit for non-hunting guests.
This is just a small list of activities we can plan for non-hunter members of your safari!
